Denzel Washington's role in the film "Philadelphia" is much similar to Karl Linder's role in "A Raisin in the Sun." Denzel plays a role of a man who is a homophobe and a small time lawyer. While working on a case he became sympathetic to the man who was homosexual and his views change towards homosexuality. He is polite with manners and well educated. You can say that both Denzel and Karl are niiave. Denzel is naiive to HIV and AIDS while Karl is naiive to the black folks. Karl did not know that the Younger family was going to be nice to him so he was rude at first, but later his views changed and respected their decision. Denzel has the ability to play Karl's role in "A Raisin in the Sun."

Remember that, in the context of the play, it is imperative that Linder is a white man. Also, remember that you want to focus on the characters in the play in your explanation more than the actors you've chosen.
